Questions About Pool and Pool Equipment

Following are frequently asked questions about pool chemicals that can help you care for and enjoy your pool;

Having a balance of your pool chemicals sterilizes the pool water, giving you a pleasant swimming experience, and protecting your pool and equipment. Whether the chemicals are basic or acidic, any imbalance can adversely affect three or all of these factors.

Maintaining your pool lighting is quite simple. Clean your lamps while doing regular pool maintenance. Replace your old bulbs to prevent malfunction and make sure your wiring is neat and secure.

Depending on the time of year or where your pool is located, it’s best to clean your basket after vacuuming the pool, and the pump basket should be cleaned once a day. If you cannot do daily cleaning, this should be done at least once a week.

This depends on the type of chemical. Pool chemicals can last for a long time if kept at the appropriate temperature and environment. In the case of dry chemicals, they have a shelf life of about 7 years before expiration. Liquid pool chemicals can last this long if they don’t freeze. If liquid pool chemical freezes and thaws, the chemicals may separate and not work properly as they should. The trick is to store chemicals at suitable temperatures during the winter season.

Showering swimmers before swimming can reduce the potential for strong odor, but germs from swimmers’ bodies will still leach into the water. To completely eliminate the unpleasant odor, it is necessary to use additional chemicals. The first way to get rid of the chlorine smell is to use chlorine to shock the pool. A lot of chlorine will be required to achieve what is called “break point chlorination”. This process involves chemistry. The amount of chlorine added must bind the nitrogen, chlorine, and ammonia molecules together to release the chlorine molecules. Free chlorine molecules can then begin to break down each other, increasing the chlorine concentration in the pool. If enough chlorine is not added to the pool, the strong odor will get worse and increase. This method only works if the pH level is within a small limit, usually between 7.2 and 7.4. You need to know the size of your pool, how many tons it is, and the type of pool shock chlorine you use.
